Antique Mahogany Serpentine Front Bookcase Top Secretary Desk with original fancy scrollwork key.

A marvelous Antique bookcase secretary desk from the 1940's that is from a top of the line manufacturer. It's a lovely serpentine front bookcase top secretary desk that is constructed with fabulous figured mahogany and ribbon stripe mahogany grains.

The piece is 76" high and it is 34" wide.
The depth of the bottom chest is 19" from front to back with the bookcase section being about 9" in depth.

It stands on carved ball & claw feet on front and back

The upper section of the secretary features a bonnet top with center urn flame finial followed by double glass bookcase doors.

The doors are accented with mahogany fretwork.

The interior of the bookcase has three shelves for books, china or your collectbles.

The mid section is a slant front desk top with a large writing surface with pull out supports.

The interior of the desk features four small drawers, numerous letter boxes, and a center doored inverse fan decorated cabinet that is flanked by two hidden pillared compartments.

It has its original lock and key.

The lower section has four gorgeous serpentine or oxbow drawers. All drawers are quality dovetailed and maintain their original beautiful ornate brass pulls and escutcheons.

All drawers are constructed of solid mahogany with tight dove tail joinery opening and closing smoothly. This is a stunning piece of furniture. The ribbon stripe grain stands out and almost shimmers with the light at certain angles.

The secretary has a multiple beveled base and all four claw and ball feet. It is solid and sturdy and in great condition for its age.
